ABOUT
My name is Joshua.
I am an all around visually creative photographer, cinematographer, and producer. Growing up in Washington, DC, I looked up to the paintings, photographs, and movies on display in the Smithsonian museums. I noticed some common themes between all these mediums. A great image is made from the light it encapsulates and that there is a story behind every frame.
I started shooting 35mm stills film on my trusty Nikon N6006. To this day, Nikon has been my preference for my photography endeavors. Today, I shoot on the sleek modern NIKKOR Z-Mount glass and Professional bodies with all their modern luxuries. I do, of course, still pick up my older film cameras. Sometimes an analog touch is not only desired, but required.
I’ve used every digital motion picture camera out there, however, I began shooting video on cameras made by RED Digital Cinema. RED was recently bought by Nikon and there is now a beautiful unity between all of my favorite cameras.
These cameras are great, but they’re just paper weights without a purpose. There are no side plots. Everything is part of life’s great story. I tell Life’s stories with any and all of these cameras — be it a film camera, a digital camera, or a motion picture camera. The camera is my essential tool for documenting and telling the stories that make up every facet of Life.
